  • Is Vincent available on video?

Unfortunately Vincent was never released on video to the public. The only place that it could be found commercially was on the Special Edition Laserdisc boxset for Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. There have been rumors that the orginal art and story might eventually be relased as an illustrated storybook (much like the Nightmare Before Christmas and Oysterboy storybooks), if this happens it is a good chance that the video may be accompany it.
Ultimatedruid adds: Vincent is also available on the Special Edition Region 1 DVD (Canadian Release).

What are some of Burton's other talents?

Tim Burton, as well as being recognized as an accomplished director, producer, and writer has also been identified as an animator, artist, and photographer. Tim has two book-credits to his name, both are for illustrated children's books; The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories. He occasionally has public showings of his photography in the Los Angeles area. Tim has even been an actor, aptly appearing as a director in a video dating agency in Cameron Crowe's movie Singles.

Danny Elfman - Jack Skellington (singing), Barrel, Clown With Tear Away Face; Chris Sarandon - Jack Skellington (speaking); Catherine O'Hara - Sally, Shock; Ken Page - Oogie Boogie; Glen Shadix - Mayor; William Hickey - Dr. Finklestein; Paul Reubens - Lock; Ed Ivory - Santa.

Why is Patrick Stewart's voice-over used on the soundtrack, but not in the theatrical release of The Nightmare Before Christmas?
Patrick Stewart's voice over was originally intended to be in the movie. Tim Burton decided to change the narration and edit it down. He used the person [?] that appears in the theatrical release instead. Danny Elfman prefered Patrick's narration much more, and having more control over the soundtrack than the movie he chose to include it on the soundtrack. Several other people including Vincent Price also read for the part.

Are Tim Burton and Danny Elfman working together anymore?

Ed Wood (music by Howard Shore) was Tim Burton's first major motion picture (as director) that did not involve the assistance of Danny Elfman (as composer). After the completion of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim said "We're taking a little vacation from each other" [from Burton On Burton]. Regarding the break-up, Danny said, "In a non-specific way, I would call what happened between the two of us a family feud. We had worked for 10 years and on six films together, and we finally had a creative blow-up. We used to joke that we'd always end like Bernard Herrmann and Alfred Hitchcock, who had a major falling out over "Torn Curtain" and never spoke again, and that prophecy kind of self-fulfilled itself. Then we realized that we both missed each other and did good work together. And sometimes in a family you have a fight and you're mad at them, but as time goes by, you recognize that this can't last forever and make amends" [from Fangoria #159]. Whether you call it a "vacation" or a "family feud," the good news is that it appears to be over, as the two colaborated yet again on Mars Attacks!. If all goes well, this may mean that other joint projects will follow (including, possibly Elfman's directorial debut with Burton as producer).

What are Tim Burton's future projects?
There are several projects that Tim Burton has alluded to. Some of the projects here, may be nothing more than rumors - but each is a distinct possiblity:

    Architects of Fear
Another alien-inspired screenplay. Tim is supposedly interested in directing.[8.99]
    Beetlejuice 2: (Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian)
Beetlejuice sequel screenplays were tested, but so far none have made the cut. [12.97]
    Beyond Violet
I don't know much about this one, other than it might be a Tim Burton Production[12.99]
    Catwoman
The long anticipated Batman Returns spinoff is still a potential Burton project. Michelle Pfeiffer has expressed interest in continuing the role she started (and maybe even an appearance by (the original [Keaton]) Batman), Warner Bros., who signed Tim to a major contract are banking on the probablity of this one becoming a reality. Supposedly this one has been placed on the back burner (again) - I guess Hollywood is still afraid of banking on a female superhero. [8.99]
    Conversations With Vincent Price
A documentary on the late Vincent Price (one of Burton's major influences), production is said to have been completed prior to Price's death. Post-production; final edits, scoring, etc. has never been completed. The release date is/has been pending [12.97]. In an interview after Sleepy Hollow Tim aluded to the fact that he might now re-visit this project; rumor also has it that film-rights to the clips of Vincent Price's films may have been part of the original delay [12.99] .
    Corpse Bride
    Rumored stop-motion animation project. [12.97]
    Dinosaurs Attack!
Another Topps card series in the same genre of the Mars Attacks! card series and could potentially be the follow-up. Burton purchased the film rights for both series at the same time, it's said that he was originally going to do DA! first, but then felt that Juarassic Park over-saturated the market. MA! was actually in development beforeIndependence Day. [12.97]
The Fall of the House of Usher
Another classic remake, possibly with Tim at the helm as Director and Producer. [8.99]
    Geek Love
Rumor has it that Burton obtained the screen-rights to the book by Katherine Dunne. [12.97]
    Goosebumps
A feature version of the R.L. Stine series of the same name, based on an amalgamation of characters and stories from the 62-book Goosebumps series. [12.97]
    Lost in Oz
Rumor is Burton has signed a deal to executive produce a syndicated TV series derived from the works of Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum. Variety reports that creative details are sketchy, as the big-budget project is in the early stages of development. The live-action drama will revolve around the lesser-known characters and stories featured in the 40-plus "Oz" titles penned by Baum. Columbia TriStar says the series is tentatively targeted for a fall 1999 bow, but the timing will hinge on the extent of production and special effects. (Thanks to Thomas Mulhearn)/[8.99]
    Pain Killer
I don't know much about this one, other than it might be a Tim Burton Production[8.99]
    Scooby-Doo
Time for a "Rooby Rack!". A live-action version of the saturday morning cartoon classic. A Bruton assitant denied that Tim was involved with this project, but recent information reveals that this just may be a future TB production.[8.99]
    Superman Lives (formerly Superman Reborn)
Nicholas Cage as Superman? Preproduction was underway, budgets climbed (and climbed). Finally Warner Bros. pulled the plug when they saw the final budget figures (Suposedly not even Superman could leap it in a single-bound). According to the studio and Burton, the project is not dead...just on hold (but for how long?). [1.99]

Recent rumor has it that Tim is pulling out of the project altogether to concentrate his effort on other projects.[8.99]
    Sweeny Todd
Burton acquired the screen-rights to the musical many years ago, rumblings suggest it could be a future project (a possible collaboration with Danny Elfman). [12.97]
    Weetzie Bat
Another rumored acquisition by Tim's production company, the book was written by Francessca Lia Block. [12.97]
    X - The Man With X-Ray Eyes
Remake of the 1963 Roger Corman cult classic for Dream Works SKG and Orion Pictures. Bryan Goluboff (The Basketball Diaries) is working on the screenplay. (from L.A. Times). [12.97]

[if anyone in the know can confirm (either way) the validity of any of these projects, please e-mail me with the information].
